Will my compass card work if I don't register it?

-Hi I just bought a compass bus pass card and I was wondering if I have to register for it to work? I don't feel comfortable putting my billing information, especially if I don't have to. So can I get on the bus without registering? I don't have it fail and have to get off the bus. Awkward :/Sure.
