-Now my girlfriend is 17 and im 19 she is about to turn 18 but she still has her permit bc her parents wont let her get it bc shes not ready. But shes not allowed to drive their new car and she cant drive her dads truck bc its to big for her. So i have been letting her drive my car but in the rare instance we get pulled over would i get in trouble bc im not 21. I mean the cops here are not the ones to write tickets for minor things but i was just wondering. As you know the cops can write the both of you up but they probably would not unless there is another violation AND they check your id. I would say that they would not bother writing you up unless the officer is short this month on his quota, which they supposedly do not have and nobody believes it. As a tip, at least try to look older if stopped. zYes you'll get in trouble. And her permit period (5 months to 1 year depending on State and in some states like NJ there are 3 steps to getting a full license that takes a year and a half) will be reset and she'll have to wait that much longer. She should find a licensed person age 21 or over and practice as much as she can with that person if her birthday is too far away.
P.S. Don't say her parents won't let her. If she's not ready it's her own fault not theirs. If you meant they don't think she's ready but she actually is, just drive her around 'till she's 18 and then she won't need her parents to get it. She is, after all, your girlfriend.
Yes, you would get into trouble. She should only be driving with an individual 21 and over or a legal guardian. Also, what would you do if she "knock on wood" got into a car accident your insurance would not cover her and her insurance is probably only for her parents vehicles, you're putting your relationship in jeopardy and should think before you continue allowing her to drive your car!
