Is it bad to drive over the speed limit?

-Its bad to drive Excessively over the speed limit. Driving a little faster is not bad, depending on weather conditionsHeck no, its actually quite a lot of fun just as long as the cops don鈥檛 give you a ticket or you don鈥檛 get into some horrible accident that causes lots of damage or gets you killed.

When I was younger I wanted to buy a Porsche and floor the pedal-to-the-metal and fly as fast as it could. A few yeas later I watched a video where a specialist was driving a high performance Porsche trying to break some speed record. His rear tire blew out, then he flipped end over end and they found his body in 5 separate pieces. OUCH !!!



Anyways, after seeing that I quickly realized that speeding can really ruin my day !



The biggest problem is speeding tickets and how much damage those tickets will do to your insurance payments each year ! Cops will generally give you a ticket for doing 10 MPH over the limit, so my advice to you is use your car鈥檚 cruise control to set your speed to no more than 5 MPH over the limit.



If you are in a 50 mph zone, then set the cruise control to 55 and that鈥檚 the end of your worries. Yes, this is a dull and boring way to live, but you will save a heck of a lot of money over the years from lower insurance costs.
Question - Why is this speed limit set for this road? I mean - it is 45 now, why can't it be for 65 or 70 even 80?



Answer - One is the location, in a populated area like a business district, school zone, residential...lots of people around. And everybody knows that pedestrians are totally unpredictable.



The other reason is the road itself. The design (no. of lanes), construction and lay of the land all dictate what the speed limit should be on any stretch of road as approved by the local authority.



So even though your vehicle has a top speed on the speedometer of 100+ mph, it is us as the drivers who have to look and evaluate all the conditions and circumstances to determine whether or not the risks outweigh the benefits of exceeding the speed limit.

if you're going too fast you won't have enough time to react and it will also take you longer to brake.
That's what the man with the radar gun and my insurance guy tell me........
