-I'd like to know how much it would take me to get from 5758 Las Virgenes Road, Calabasas to 1299 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica during rush hour. MapQuest says 34 minutes using Pacific Coast Highway, but I'm sure that doesn't factor in the heavy traffic. Do you have a more realistic approximation of the length of this commute, or a better alternative to MapQuest's? Thank you in advance for your time! This is one of those 'pick your poison' issues. There are 3 options -
1. The freeway. The 101, 405, 10. There really is no 'good' time to travel this route. Plus it is a much longer distance.
2. Go over Topanga Cyn. This pretty much parallels Las Virgines/Malibu Cyn, but it is more hilly.
3. Your best bet is Malibu Cyn to PCH. Give it 2 hours each way. May be a bit longer due to construction, crashes, fog, etc. I never made this run in less than 45 mins from where you are..
All the best.It depends on the time of day. Google maps has a traffic condition factor you can add in as a variable. Also look at www.sigalert.com to get an idea of rush hour conditions. Also consider whether we are talking morning or evening rush hour here.
PCH is a parking lot southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening.
In rush hour I would allow 90 minutes and anything less in bonus.
And I hope you are not thinking of making this a regular commute.
About 1 hour.
